Just some of the things I take care of
Automatic transmission rebuilding
This is the core business. These are complex and time consuming little critters to build but I enjoy the challenges they bring. Each full rebuild undergoes the same thorough procedure - stripped - cleaned - inspected - painted - new parts added - rebuilt - airline tested - ready to install. 12 month warranty.
Shift kit installation
There are two types of shift kit - Shift Improvers/Correction kits which are designed to iron out factory design issues and help correct known problems. Then there are performance shift kits - designed to give firmer quicker gear changes for strip or race use. Both are best fitted during a rebuild (a hell of a lot easier!) but can be done from under the car. (pain in the ass!) Your transmission must be healthy already or it may fail from asking too much from a tired old thing.
If your gearbox is in good shape then keep it that way by having it serviced. From experience of dismantling automatic gearboxes, I can safely say that this is probably the most neglected part of a car! How some of them carry on working I do not know. I've seen fluid like soup! Clean fresh fluid and a new filter are the life blood of any good transmission, along with proper cooling.
V8 Engine work
I restore and rebuild V8's. I work closely with you to design the right spec of engine for your car and budget. I'll give you good solid advice for a reliable motor that will perform strong and run for years. You dont need to understand the technical jargon, I put things simply so you can make the right decisions. You pay for the goodies and the engineering and pay me for the design and build and I look after the whole job. I am equipped to pull the engine out and put it back if you want this service, or you can drop an engine to me.
I'm now branching out into rear ends. I did steer clear of these up until recently but having done a Ford 9in and Chevy 10 bolt with success I am now advertising to include this area of work up to a point. Mostly the reason for not doing them is the weight and the difficulty in handling them. Its not easy on your own! Bolt in Diffs are not so bad but they are still hard to mount to work on. Try me.
I am more than happy to help with any part of your car or projects needs. Having done 2x body-off's restorations myself I have tackled practically everything you can think of. Whether you need a distributor fitting & timing up or a tilt steering column rebuilding give me a shout. I also enjoy fault finding, being a qualified telecoms engineer and an electrician in the past helps greatly with niggling electrical issues!
Some people just like to drive their Classic car prefering to leave the servicing and dirty work to someone else - thats cool. Trouble is alot of garages these days are loosing touch with old school technology and are not familiar with older classics. Being a classic owner and enthusiast I am experienced and knowledgable in all aspects of these older cars. I take the time to source the right parts and do the work correctly. You wont get this level of care and service in a fast-paced modern car garage.
I own an '82 C3 and have taken it down to the bone and back. I know C3's and small blocks very well indeed. If you have any questions or need something looked at on your C3 Corvette then I can most likely help. Bring it on down!
